THE CURSED AND CURIOUS ODDITIES SHOP is a Tim Burton twist on The Spellshop by Sarah Durst.

Ari Penrose desperately wants to work with legendary magical artifacts. Not just to become a famous historian but to live up to her family’s reputation. With no other options in sight, she strikes a deal with the (probably) crazy museum Director at her work. She will use her persuasive skills to convince the city to allow a new exhibit for illegal cursed artifacts in exchange for a promotion to run it.

With her dream job in the balance, she travels to Dreadwood Falls the only place with an abundance of cursed artifacts. Under the veil of shadows, the cozy village is full of soon to be friends, bewitched pie, and a cat café owned by Nyx, a beautiful but gloomy witch. Beyond errant plagues that scare her, Ari has no desire to work with cursed artifacts—not only because they’re dangerous, but they’re also responsible for her brother's death. Ari slowly falls for Nyx and learns that most cursed artifacts are not evil. They are formerly enchanted magical artifacts, and she learns how to restore the magic from the owner of a cursed artifact resale shop. Ari begins questioning who is responsible for the curses running around. Is it Nyx?

When Ari's own curiosity has her opening a jar that unleashes an evil curse that plagues Dreadwood Falls, she must work with her new friends and Nyx to restore the village. As time runs out, Ari is forced to choose—will she display the cursed artifacts without restoring their magic and lie to the public that they’re safe so she can keep her promotion? Or will she abandon her old dreams, confront her grief, to find a new home in Dreadwood Falls?
